The year in review - 2019 MUST HAVES
So here are my favorite new discoveries from last year… and yeah we’re basically already a month into the new year I know but I’ve got littles, like little littles, so everything is basically delayed in my life. #momlife huh?! Anyways some of these are brand new, some are truly classics and others are little gems that I know you’ll love! I hope you enjoy this list and make sure you get in touch if you have any questions.
LUCAS PAPAW OINTMENT
This is 100% one of the best lip balms I have ever run across. Honestly I use this sweet little baby all over my body… on my nails and cuticles when they start breaking and cracking, thank you winter; on any curling iron burns my poor fingers receive, thank you sexy beach waves; mosquito bites and chafing during those summer months and even on nappy rash! It really is a heavy lift, do-it-all product. Lucas Papaw Ointment is made from of Carica Papaya 39mg/g Fresh Fermented Fruit which has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
*PRO TIP - This is one of my go-to pro products for on set beauty/fashion shoots. The texture and shine is so absolutely perfect not to mention it’ll get rid of a chappy, mess of a lip asap! I pop this on eyelids, tops of cheekbones, brows… anywhere that I really want some mega-shine. This is a Fashion Week backstage must have as well.
NARS LAGUNA LIQUID BRONZER
Depending upon where you are in the world, this might be your new best friend. Personally there isn’t anything much more cringe worthy that ultra-tan, just back from the South of France (like, unless you were really there… then bring me back some calissons) skin in THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. Sure a warm glow, something to remind us wistfully of warmer summer days but save the banging bronze for another time.
In steps this beauty… if you’re of the fairer/paler complexion and are looking for some summer glow this is your new saving grace. In the classic cult favorite shade of Nars Laguna Bronzer is this lighter, more glowy liquid bronzer. I’m putting it on each and every client between the months of October-May… after that your tan is your own problem! #SPFforLIFE
In all seriousness - one pump in the palm of your hand and buff this gently into your skin with a fluffy brush after foundation yet before powder. Pop some cream blush on to really bring back some spring vibes.
And there ya go, couldn’t be simpler.
GOOD SKIN DAY BARRIER RESTORE SQUALANE
My newest skincare lover, and another kit product I honestly use on every client. Why?… because she works on every single skin type. This is a oil-serum concentrate that repairs stressed skin, balances hydration, and brightens uneven skin tone… it’s basically my base for every juicy skin moment you see in my work. Enough hydration to pump up anyone who is dry but also light enough for clients with more oil in their skins. I use it on everyone and recommend it for everyone’s skin care routine no matter the skin texture - because everyone can use more hydration, I PROMISE. Squalane is also a newish skincare savior on the market so I’m basically hoarding anything with this ingredient in it.
And listen, full disclosure - I love the women behind this brand but I’m also not biased and my love of this product is not clouded by their cool factor.
*PRO TIP - Remember friends, lightest to heaviest when it comes to skincare application… with your SPF going on last.
HOURGLASS ILLUSION HYALURONIC SKIN TINT - UVA/UVB SPF 15
To be honest I’ve loved and enjoyed this product personally and professional for quite a while. It’s just on the heavier side of a typical tint, which seems to serve my needs personally and when I’m wanting to see skin and its texture but just reduce discolorations on set… this is my go to. When I’m working on brides with drier skin or more mature clients, this is my preferred foundation mixed with something just slightly more full-bodied and with more coverage kick. The reason why I use this and mix it into other foundations so much… is due to the texture and shine of this baby. SHE.IS.SO.PRETTY! and so will your skin be when you use her!!
Brand notes say - Fortified with Hourglass’ Hyaluronan Complex, Illusion® plumps fine lines and wrinkles, tightens the appearance of sagging skin, and delivers an unbelievably luminous glow.
*PRO TIP - She’s my winter foundation and will be perfect for anyone with normal-dry skin. If you find your skin is just slightly too shiny for your preference after using this product, use a blotting sheet or a super soft HD Powder application to reduce the shine but keep the glow!
MISSHA Dare Lip Tint
SO COOL YOUNG BOSS. Okay, so I’ve never been a shrinking violet when it comes to lip color… a bold lip is kind of a signature look for me. Literally like, no makeup and a ‘so bright it might electrocute you’ pout is 100% my jam. So I’m always testing out new lippies and playing with fun new colors.
Well these babies have been the ultimate pleasure - it’s an interesting watery, gel like texture that goes on super wet and opaque but dries to a matte, velvety finish. It’s not quite waterproof when wearing it as an opaque lip color but it does dye the skin so that means it IS super long lasting in my book. And yes, the shade is named So Cool Young Boss, so at the very least they’re worth it for the color name!
*Side note - my toddler daughter broke into this and applied herself some lips… the lingering stain is still there a day later, and yes… she’s had a bath.
PRO TIP - Press this product into the lips with the pad of your finger to achieve a soft, flushed stained effect. The perfect lip product is ALWAYS multi use!
