REAL.LIFE.
So you've got the babe, you've nailed the sleep schedule and life is finally feeling a bit more
familiar. Then one morning (or evening, let's be honest) you finally decide to shower and a small mammal shows up in your drain. My postpartum hair loss experience took me by surprise... I've always thought I shed a lot for a typical human and after my babe arrived it seemed to pick up a bit more than usual yet I had no idea what was in store for me upon that 3 month mark. A handful of hair here and there became the norm.... THE NORM! It was shocking to say the least but I took it all in stride, my mantra actually became 'Well as long as there isn't a bald spot, I'm safe.' And I mean, all that luscious hair we have throughout pregnancy is on borrowed time anyways.
While this is a completely normal and – luckily – a temporary issue, it's still an unnerving occurrence and it's always nice to have a little science based info to hold in your back pocket for those times you think you MIGHT actually be going bald. Of course with most pregnancy related things, PP Hair Loss is due to hormonal changes... love you hormones! While pregnant our hormonal increases help to – among other things- stimulate the increase in the 'growth phase' of our hair. With the birth of your little babe the hormones shift yet again and your hair enters its 'resting phase' which is followed about 3 months later by shedding and regrowth (yay!). Regrowth while a beautiful word for most of us, for new mothers it means a thousand crazy baby hairs crowning your head like the queen you truly are. Yet another gift your sweet, sweet hormones are bestowing upon you!
Yes, I'd take this hair everyday of my life if possible.

*With this in mind, please advise your doctor before taking any supplements as some are best for women bypassing breastfeeding. And know, as with much of motherhood THIS TOO SHALL PASS.
